  • Overview

    This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities of the manufacturing functions across multiple shift operations with primary emphasis on: assuring the efficient utilization of equipment and manpower to maintain production schedules, producing a quality product in a safe manner; coordinating production to meet production control schedules and maintain continuous flow of production; and implementing the necessary maintenance of equipment to ensure continuous production on an assigned shift. 

    This is a 6p-6a shift on a rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule.


    • Plans work and production for the shift ensuring key performance indicators are consistently met for the area as well as the department.
    • Obtains information from prior shift manager regarding operating problems.
    • Insures all machines are operable and associates have the needed raw materials, instructions, and training to meet production requirements.
    • Checks schedules and all machines for proper running speed and reports any mechanical problems to the maintenance department; prepares any needed work orders.
    • Observes associates for safety adherence, efficiency and overall production performance, following instructions and procedures to reduce scrap usage and waste.  Evaluates process, work performance on each associate, and makes recommendations.
    • Support, drive and own the adherence of associates and manufacturing function(s) to all 5s, GCC lean principles, GC1Ops, Tiered Communication, and all other corporate initiated programs.
    • Keeps records during each shift on attendance, absences, call-ins, and overtime schedule and accurately approves associate time in Kronos on a daily basis.
    • Support and uphold our company policies and core values.
    • Perform other tasks that are reasonable to the job as requested by Direct Management.
    • Handle the first step grievances within assigned shift in accordance established policy.
    • Supervision Scope: Direct supervision over hourly associates and coordinates with various other departments.

    • Must have good attention to detail while managing the big picture to meet consistently key performance indicators.
    • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
    • Must be able to motivate, coach, and communicate with team members to meet set expectations.
    • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
    • Good written and oral communication skills.
    • Solid planning, leadership, computer and administrative skills.
    • High energy, demonstrates urgency and fast pace.
    • Good understanding of business principles and practices; functions as a change agent who can effectively manage manufacturing to achieve positive bottom line results.
    • Must have the flexibility to work 12 hour shifts to support a continuous operation.

    • 4+ years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting preferably in a union environment.
    • Cable and wire experience preferred.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Supervision experience in a team based environment.



    Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.


    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    Production Coordinator’s split their time between the production area and a nearby office.  When working on the production floor, they need to wear protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hearing protection.  Production Coordinator’s work full time (40 hours per week), and are required to work overtime, night, and/or weekend shifts as part of the continuous operation of the facility. 

    Physical Demands of the Production Coordinator Job may include but are not limited to:

    • Standing/Climbing/Walking at least 50% of the time during their scheduled shift
    • Use of hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
    • Talk/Hear to communicate with all associates
    • Exposure to heat/cold while working on manufacturing floor
