  • Overview

    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the candidate will be responsible for directing of all production teams to insure optimum utilization of manpower and materials on equipment run according to schedule. This position is also responsible for effectively managing cross functional relationships with other departments to support effective use of manpower, materials, and equipment, as well as productivity improvement initiatives. 

    Incumbent is required to demonstrate personal commitment to the standards set forth in The General Cable Code of Ethics and Compliance Guidelines and use sound judgment in maintaining appropriate compliance procedures and in carrying out their duties with honesty, in compliance with laws and with high ethical standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs teams through department managers and shift department managers for all work activities of production departments, coordinating all departments and shifts into a cohesive manufacturing unit.
    • Selects and trains team leaders, production supervisors and other positions that help lead the manufacturing effort. Makes sure that their practices are consistent with authorized procedures.
    • Coordinates the activities of production with those of production control associates to insure that work is produced on a schedule in a balanced flow method fully utilizing essential tools such as Just- In- Time, Materials Requirement Planning, Cycle time Reduction, etc.
    • Work the manufacturing team, coordinate the activities of production with those of quality assurance personnel to insure that specifications and quality levels are met, and production and maintenance areas are assured to be in compliance with ISO standards.
    • Coordinate the activities of production with those of Industrial engineers personnel to insure that labor, materials utilization standards are optimized and manpower leveled are monitored and adjusted, and actions to be taken for maintenance problems.
    • Direct teams in a manner to achieve proper motivation, performance, reward and discipline of production supervisors, and through them and their teams, to all production associates.
    • Enforce and be aware of all safety requirements.
    • Coordinate the maintenance of manufacturing data systems necessary to support the manufacturing process, and provide information for budgeting, capacity and planning processes.
    • Compiles the necessary data for preparation of the annual budget.
    • Ensures fixed assets are properly recorded; capital expenditure requests are processed in accordance to policy and procedures; and construction-in-progress is capitalized timely and appropriately.
    • Ensures strong internal controls are in place, including mitigating controls designed to address segregation of duty issues.
    • Full engaged in the Lean Sigma mindset; participates in and drives leading continuous improvement opportunities - both within the accounting function and other plant activities
    • Assists in internal/external audits.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by Plant Manager.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    A results driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high performance-manufacturing environment

    Proven experience in manufacturing management

    Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis

    Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement

    Good written and oral communication skills

    High energy demonstrates urgency and fast pace

    Good understanding of business principles and practices; can effectively manage the manufacturing function with a bottom line result

    Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred

    Managerial experience in a team based environment

    Ability and willingness to relocate for promotional opportunities

     

    Qualifications:

    5 years manufacturing experience

    BS in Business Management, Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing
