    Reporting to the HRBP/Director of NA HR-Operations, the Human Resource Business Partner – NA Operations is responsible for managing and performing various duties in support of North American Operations Human Resources activities.  The HRBP partners with the regional and plant Human Resources teams to deliver a high performance culture, promoting ownership, goal attainment and continuous learning and improvement at all levels of the plant.

    Responsibilities

    • Partner with HR and Operations leadership on business strategy.
    • Ensure the organizational structure supports the strategic objectives of the organization.
    • Partner with the Human Resources and operations leadership team to develop, support, evaluate and standardize programs, processes and policies.
    • Participate in change leadership by understanding the desired outcomes, effectively involving, managing and communicating with those impacted by change and mitigating the barriers to change. 
    • Assist in building the organization’s capabilities by identifying the talent needs of the business and assist managers with development of the next generation leaders.
    • Perform compensation review for hourly and salaried employees. 
    • Serve as a credible advocate representing the needs of stakeholders and ensure/measure alignment around business results.
    • Integrate HR practices around critical business needs.
    • Identify and lead ways to eliminate or streamline non-value-adding work both within region and across regions.
    • Strategic team member on the creation and implementation of new corporate HR systems / service rollout.
    • Ensures General Cable values are promulgated and lived by all associates.
    • Ensure application of corporate and local human resource procedures, practices and initiatives in compliance with all laws and regulations. 
    • Participate in grievance and labor negotiations as needed.
    • Conduct investigations and corresponding discipline depending on level of risk.
    • Track and report on relevant HR metrics.

    Qualifications

    • Must have strong experience within HR in a large manufacturing company.
    • Have experience in the leading of multiple work projects within a specific period of time
    • Results and metrics driven with the ability to work in a high performance-manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to participate in change and transformation efforts and manage multiple, complex tasks with attention to detail.
    • Ability to coach, mentor and guide managers around people and business issues.
    • Ability to motivate, communicate and lead continuous improvement of HRBP delivery.
    • Strong team player with the ability to establish rapport with all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to create human resource solutions with a bottom line result.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of labor and employee relations including federal and state laws, regulations, principles and practices related to employee conduct, performance and dispute resolution to protect the business from potential liabilities.
    • Familiarity with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing techniques.
    • Experience with planning and executing the administrative side of HR and data management software.
    • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.

     

    Education

    BS/BA degree in Human Resource Management, Business or related field required.  SPHR Certification preferred.

     

    Experience

    • At a minimum of 5 years of Human Resource generalist experience in a demanding manufacturing environment. 
    • Ability to work in a team based environment, with a proven track record of leading and managing teams.
    • Demonstrated success with organizational change activities.
    • Proven success in talent management and building competencies/ capabilities at all levels of the facility.
    • Experience in labor and employee relations preferred
    • Working knowledge of federal laws including employment and labor laws and success with developing core HR policies around both labor and employee relations.
