  • Overview

    Typically, this individual will have expert depth in one particular field augmented by broad skills in all others. Works under minimum supervision as a fully qualified multi-skilled maintenance mechanic performing a variety of assigned or self-initiated repair or upgrade work.  Areas of focus are in mechanical, electrical, electronics, PLC programming, controls, process understanding, and rolling stock. This is a night shift position with 12 hour shifts.


    Strictly adhere to all guidelines set forth in the plant safety manual, JIB’s, PMP’s and other related documents. Attend Safety huddles and safety meetings. Learn and demonstrate 100% 24/7 365.

    • As in all cases, employees must adhere to all plant policies and standards regarding attendance, relief periods, hours of work, appearance, housekeeping, and any other item necessary to maintain efficient operations.
    • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and make required corrections utilizing PLC skills where required.
    • Installs and repairs complex systems with associated controls and interfaces
    • Develops concepts, researches solutions, organizes action plans, and implements changes/repairs
    • Secures assistance from necessary resources, i.e., associates, engineers, managers, and contractors
    • Takes the initiative in becoming familiar with equipment changes in order to perform quick and accurate repairs
    • Tracks machine hours and meets with production star points to schedule machine PM’s.
    • Makes improvements to machine PM’s.
    • Uses CMMS (Maintenance Management System DataStram 7i) to assist in establishing procedures for preventative maintenance, documentation of changes, tracking of repair costs, reorder of parts and supplies for all equipment in the plant, and completion of work orders
    • Assists with the selection of new equipment and the determination of spare parts
    • Provides assistance and acts as a resource to other maintenance team members and plant associates.
    • Documents equipment drawings and helps maintain equipment history files
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable trade codes, environmental regulations, and safety rules
    • Keeps work areas, tools, and equipment in clean and orderly condition
    • Ensures a productive and harmonious work environment by promoting the teamwork concept and performs other duties as assigned
    • Establishes measure and display mechanisms for tracking key team objectives
    • Leads and inspires corrective action
    • Lead technical resource for operational teams - organize work, train fellow team members, ensure capability, identify voids, track progress
    • Has stewardship/ownership for assigned department
    • Organizes/schedules with star points on priorities and work
    • Time recording/reporting
    • Identifies training needs
    • Interplant relationships

    • Demonstrate Safety as a Core Value. Be an active participating member of safety culture.
    • Maintain the Maintenance areas in a tour ready state at all times.
    • Ability to train new employees in all required skills.
    • Score of 55 or above on the NOCTI Maintenance Test
    • 2 Year Associates degree in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent.
