    Accountable to the Materials Manager this position is responsible for scheduling and expediting required materials through production departments to satisfy customer delivery while optimizing production efficiencies and inventory investment.  Responsibilities also include establishing effective systems and operating procedures to provide materials at the lowest ultimate cost and with the highest quality. Be able to optimize inventory investments in raw material and finished goods, while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction levels.  Working with vendors in ordering and releasing raw materials and establishing kanbans and supplier managed inventory (smi) procedures. This position will also work with the Master Scheduler and plant personnel on continuous improvement methods in scheduling and inventory control.


    • Establish and distribute production schedules for production departments


    • Arrange availability of raw materials or in-process materials/components, which are required to start, support and complete the manufacturing process in accordance with current manufacturing specifications


    • Work with corporate headquarters on establishing priorities and expediting proper production through production departments


    • Work with plant personnel on continuous improvement to bring manufacturing to world class status


    • Analyze, investigate and evaluate intermediate and long-range purchase requirements, specifications, pricing and sources, as well as study and develop advanced procurement plans, methods and techniques to meet these requirements


    • Investigate and appraise the expertise, facilities and competence of suppliers to service the facility


    • Obtain optimum price and purchase specifications through negotiation, other pricing techniques and recognition of the functional needs of the product


    • Choose the supplier whose proposal, including the results of negotiation; provide the Company with the best evaluated purchase


    • Lead person/champion to drive material productivity throughout the plant, efficiently optimizing usage


    • Develop and implement materials management systems and programs to eliminate supplier (internal and external) non-conformances and improve delivery, packaging and material presentation method


    • Interpret and implement common material specifications and standards


    • Participate in design review and drawing sign off


    • Flow down new manufacturing methodologies to the supply base (SPC, JIT, EDI, SMI, Kanban, etc.)


    • A results driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high performance-manufacturing environment


    • 3 - 5 years experience in production planning in the manufacturing arena


    • Must have good attention to details, but be able to manage the big picture and have a “make the numbers” mentality


    • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis


    • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.


    • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities


    • Good written and oral communication skills


    • Solid planning, leadership and administrative skills


    • High energy, demonstrates urgency and fast pace


    • Proven experience in establishing an effective material planning and resource system


    • Experience in MRP and pull flow systems


    • Experienced negotiator in managing vendors and suppliers assuring best price, quality to specification and on-time delivery


    • Materials background; able to understand and develop appropriate product specifications


    • Proven ability to work in teams


    • APICS certification


    • Minimum of an Associate’s degree, BS/BA degree in related field preferred
