  • Overview

    This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the

    development and implementation of critical process improvement initiatives. This position also will improve standards and establish systems to improve the overall process flow and manufacturing systems.



    • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.


    • Have a fundamental back ground making drawings using Auto CAD. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer.


    • Be familiar with all facets of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project Manager.


    • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate products and to promote efficient utilization.


    • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.


    • Formulate sampling procedures, designs, and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating,


    • Apply statistical methods to determine manufacturing processes and production standards.


    • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.


    • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and equipment.


    • Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and defective or damaged parts, and assess cost and responsibility.


    • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.


    • Take monthly lube oil samples and tank levels. Send samples to appropriate testing center. Maintain monthly sample reports and tank level spread sheet.


    • Perform wire break analysis from wire break reports. Record data and maintain spread sheet. Send data to appropriate recipients monthly.


    • Research and update the GEE Strander data base as needed.


    • Perform quarterly capability studies in the wire mill dept.


    • Develop and implement process control sheets.


    • Three or more years of manufacturing, process, or project engineering experience in a demanding environment, preferably with a focus on process capability improvements. Wire and cable experience is definitely a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze productivity improvements in a team-based environment,propose innovative solutions and deliver efficiency results on time and to specifications.
    • Be able to receive quotes from multiple vendors, prioritize and write capital expenditures to support capital projects.
    • Experience in managing multiple projects and delivering on time, within budget, and to specifications.
    • Greenbelt and or Blackbelt certification desired but not required.
    • B.S. degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
