    Reporting to the Plant Finance Manager, the Lead Accountant is responsible for the development and implementation of an effective cost system to provide both cost control and information, which will assist management in directing and controlling operations.  Each associate is required to demonstrate personal commitment to the standards set forth in The General Cable Code of Ethics and Compliance Guidelines and use sound judgment in maintaining appropriate compliance procedures and in carrying out their duties with honesty, in compliance with laws and with high ethical standards.

    Responsibilities

    Lead Accountant takes responsibility for the preparation and interpretation of month end closing activities, budgeting, inventories and monthly forecasts.  The Lead Accountant does not have supervisory responsibility.

     

    • Maintains data and determines cost standards for all plant products; provides cost data for new and/or changed products.
    • Analyze cost data to determine the profitability of product, department, or operation and provide special analyses as needed.
    • Evaluates cost systems and implements changes to make them more informative.
    • Compiles the necessary data for preparation of the annual budget.
    • Compiles, prepares, and verifies all data and journal vouchers necessary to close monthly.
    • Plans and conducts monthly inventories
    • Responsible for fixed assets and the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
    • Performs general accounting functions.
    • Assists in month-end closing activities.
    • Provides support for payroll functions.
    • Maintain records of raw material purchase cost, purchase price variance, and ending inventory.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Critical thinker with excellent analytical abilities
    • Proven experience in the finance/accounting function of a facility
    • BS degree in Finance or Accounting and/or CPA
    • 5 years manufacturing experience in general and/or cost accounting
